Soundproofing Floors Using Acoustic Mineral Wool
To reduce sound travelling between floors, a cavity is created using joists and then filled with fibre insulation. The floor height is raised slightly depending on the method but no more than 18mm.
Acoustic mineral wool is a high density fibre used for filling cavities and absorbing sound. You may have heard of products such as Rockwool or other forms of insulation, this is a very common product used for soundproofing.
